I just received an email from brownpapertickets.com that this years derby has been cancelled for low participation. Anyone else receive this information?

Hey MG,
I got the news on Monday that indeed is the case.
Given the slower fishing than last year and the reduced quota, I guess people just weren't that interested in participating in the Tournament.
I'm disappointed because I thought it had the potential to be a great local event.
Oh well, there are still fish to catch

Hopefully HM can get it going again next year. I really like the format of that derby (combined weight vs. 1 large fish.) It sounds like they were dealing with many issues this year such as lower quota levels, low pre-sales, wdfw, etc. Good news is that only about 33% of quota has been caught so far. Sounds like the season will last a bit longer!

Bummer. I was going to pick up tickets today. Maybe in the future we should all buy tickets well in advance so they have an idea of the number of participants.
